A Community of Honor
The Fremont Avenue of Flags in Fremont, Nebraska, stands as a poignant tribute to the nation's military heroes. Each year, volunteers line Military Avenue with hundreds of American flags, many of which once draped the caskets of fallen service members. This stirring display occurs on significant national holidays such as Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, and Veterans Day, serving as a visual testament to the sacrifices made by those who served in the U.S. Armed Forces. Adjacent to this avenue, the Fremont Veterans Park further honors veterans with a memorial featuring a statue of a soldier kneeling at a Battle Cross, an Eternal Flame, and memory tiles commemorating individual service members. Together, these landmarks foster a deep sense of community and remembrance, ensuring that the valor and dedication of military personnel are never forgotten.
